Carvoeiro and Ferragudo

Carvoeiro

A former traditional Portuguese fishing village, Carvoeiro retains much of it´s original charm whilst providing a perfect resort for families and couples.

Tourists return to Carvoeiro year after year, unable to resist the charm this town offers. Situated between Lagos and Albufeira, Carvoeiro is known for it´s relaxed and friendly environment perfect for winding down and experiencing what the Algarve has to offer.

There are a number of secluded sandy beaches where you can  spend  hours relaxing or take a boat trip and visit the magical coves (grotto´s) of the Western Algarve. Although smaller and less commercial than some of the other towns Carvoeiro enjoys some of the best cuisine around. There are a number of traditional Portuguese restaurants where the fresh fish on offer is highly recommended, or alternatively you can choose from Indian, Italian, Tapas, Chinese or English cuisine. During the day you will find a selection of cafe´s and small bars where you can sample some of the traditional Portuguese pastries and fresh croissants.

Carvoeiro is not the place if you are looking for late night clubs but many of the bars in the centre offer live music and if you feeling brave a little Karaoke! You may prefer to sit outside and make the most of the warm evenings, watching the world go by whilst sampling the local Sangria and Port.

Ferragudo

Ferragudo is the hidden treasure of the Algarve, it is an unspoilt traditional fishing village with narrow cobbled streets, lined with traditional Portuguese houses. The village square offers a selection of bars and restaurants and the harbour offers great views as well as a link to the neighbouring towns Portimao and Praia da Rocha by water taxi.

Local amenities include: banks, post office, daily fish and vegetable market and a number of mini markets for everyday essentials.

Thre are a number of safe sandy beaches within walking distance of Ferragudo with the option to relax in the sun, sample the delights of the fresh fish at the beach bars or for those that are more active and have a head for heights try one of the many cliff walks to take in the superb views.

Ferragudo is centrally located in the Algarve which makes it a great base if you want to explore. You can book a relaxing boat trip to view the magnificent coves or take a river cruise in the historical town of Silves; there is also a water park close by which provides a great day out for the family.

Whether you seek an action packed holiday or a place to relax in peace and tranquillity, Ferragudo is the ideal location with many people returning year after year.
